Dammit Presents: Blind Man Death Stare + The Kimberly Steaks

Dammit Presents:

Blind Man Death Stare (Australia)

Is this the hardest working punk band in Australia? Hell yeah they are! Fast punk rock with a melodic hardcore backbone. Music to get drunk to, party to, shout to and generally absolutely feed to.

https://blindmandeathstare.bandcamp.com/

The Kimberly Steaks

There are no words that haven't been previously said about 'The Steaks'. They are easily one of, if not THE best pop-punk/punk rock band Scotland has ever produced. Lightning fast, loud sing-alongs, incredible lyrical content. They are just lovely. They are also recording a new album as we speak so expect new songs along with the old classics.

Lieko Quintet

Lieko Quintet is a Manchester-based group turning contemporary jazz on its head with melodic, groove-infused compositions. Treading a path somewhere between soul music and folk song, they use melody as a focal point for moving between riff-based interplay and free-form improvisation. When blended together with the rhythmic precision of old school funk and cathartic energy of Nigerian Afrobeat, the result is a brain-melting concoction of new-world explorations.

If you’re not already dancing, they’ll pull the proverbial rug out from underneath your feet, and get you moving in places you never even knew existed.

*NEW CLUB NIGHT KLAXON*

A common post-work activity in the Soviet Union was partying till dawn in the discotheque. Even Stalin's dictatorship couldn't stop a little boogie. Although legally all dancing events HAD to have an official title explaining why are people dancing. So this is a night of dancing dedicated to keeping our bodies and minds healthy. Some banger RNB, lots of disco, obviously 80s, soul for your soul.

Following the release of debut EP Tides in May 2018, EL MOONO returned with the explosive new single Catalyst, delving even further into the band's math-tinged grunge explorations to bridge the gap between Tides and it’s follow up.
2019 has seen the band opening for Black Peaks and Press To Meco, before making their European debut in March 2019 with a special run of headline performances, before returning to home soil to tear up venues across the UK!

“All The Riffs” - Kerrang!

“The Brighton quartet possess the ability to present your ears with pummelling rhythms, visceral vocals and momentous riffs which their current contemporaries could only dream of producing.” - All Things Loud

Support from Triptych

Triptych are a band from Glasgow, Scotland combining elements of indie, classic rock, math rock and alternative rock, and influenced by bands the likes of Biffy Clyro, Delta Sleep and Foals. With a headline King Tut’s show under their belt, Triptych have been gigging around Scotland for the last two years at venues such as Stereo, O2ABC and The Stirling Tolbooth. The band formed when members Finn Hennessy, Jake Bhattacharyya, and Matt Cunningham were attending high school outside of Glasgow. Their 5 track EP "Stick Around" released on June of last year, with more music on the horizon for 2019 and beyond.

Property are Morgan Hewitt on vocals, Josh Holliday on bass, Ryan Grieve on drums and Michael Woods on guitar, playing post-punk with fingers in alt. and goth rock; think Wire and Fugazi by way of Bauhaus and Ceremony. They offer a level of live intensity most bands would be envious of, playing with their hearts firmly on their sleeves and pouring out their take on regular modern anxieties. Last year Property played alongside touring artists such as Les Deuxluxes, The Goon Sax, B.A. Johnston, Mur-Man, and Yamantaka // Sonic Titan amongst many others during a busy year which also saw them cut a number of recordings of which you can hear via the usual channels. BLOC will be part of their own whistle-stop tour of the North of the UK; they want you to come grab your own piece of Property that’s always in the sunshine.

Sonars

File 23-02-18, 14 57 49.jpeg

Sonars are a two-piece Electro-Psych outfit from the UK and Italy.

The band consists of Brighton-born Frederick Paysden and Serena Oldratifrom Bergamo. Their live performance revolves around their loop stations which they use to recreate their songs layer by layer, drawing inspiration from Alt Rock, Psych Rock and Trip Hop.

Since their debut release in 2015 they have performed over 250 concerts throughout Europe at festivals such as Europavox (FR), Eurosonic Noorderslag (NL), Bime (ES), MIL (PT) and Maifeld Derby (DE), sharing the bill with international acts such as Slowdive, Last Shadow Puppets, King Gizzard, Thurston Moore and Primal Scream.

In 2018 they had official showcases at SXSW (Austin, TX), Canadian Music Week (Toronto, ON) and an extensive UK tour. After a busy festival season, they went on to support Thirty Seconds To Mars and Mike Shinoda (Linkin Park) at the open-air Milano Rocks festival.

///Common records///

are ridiculously excited to be releasing the new EP from bedroom pop- legend and icon

/////SULKA////

Natured and nurtured through a mixture of ridiculously talented pals from Stirlings Death Collective to Glasgows Gold Mold Records- Luk Millburn has been spitting out bedroom banger after bedroom banger as Sulka since 2016.

Sounding like Elliot Smith being played through a broken tape deck in your step mum's spare room that one summer before you started college the new SULKA Haunted ep is EXACTLY what it needs to be!

Managing to find the balance between the comfortable spaces Sulka has created in their sound over their last few collections whilst also digging out new spaces and finding new places to explore within its lo-fi parameters. Electronics, Heavier lead lines, Pushing vocals further forward, And just being a big ol' bloody emotional gut punch.

The EP can be pre-ordered and be prepped for streaming over on Commons Bandcamp!

Support on the night comes from another ridiculously group of talented folks from Death Collective/Gold Mold crew;

///MOONSOUP///

We've been listening to the music of Niamh Baker for a year or so now; since Craig Ferrie of December 91' tried to convince her along to one of our house shows. She couldn't make it but we've had a close eye on her and her project Moonsoup since they started! They've a release coming up soon with our old pals at Olive Grove Records. So catch em quick before they're too hip and popular!

FFO Like a sharper, lo-fi Sufjan Stevens who doesn't think so much of himself all the time... If that makes sense, low key ukeleles, Falkirk High street, and having candles on in a dark room.

https://moonsoup.bandcamp.com/

And opening the evening, a new project from some of Sulkas nearest and dearest;

///MOD///

not much is known about the mysterious MOD at time of publishing but expect more sleepy psyche pop vibes. Like Elvis Depressedly falling asleep whilst covering Teenage Fanclub.

And of course COMMON will be there hawking Common releases old and new at low low prices!!

Rescue Rangers (FRA) + Static Future

IMG_5513-2.jpg

Since their formation over a decade ago, every day that’s passed has only served to heighten vocalist/guitarist Pascal Mascheroni’s near talismanic-like qualities as a songwriter. A long-serving student and practitioner of classic rock, metal and hardcore punk, the release of the band’s debut album Guitars And Dust Dancing (2010) and follow-up Manitoba (2012) on Trendkill Recordings, deftly showcased the wide range of influences at play on both Mascheroni’s mind and music collection.

The real affirmation of Rescue Rangers’ prowess, however, came in 2009, after the band played a local show with desert rock nonconformist Nick Oliveri. Not only did Oliveri love the band enough to lend vocals to ‘Creeper, The One Who Creeps,’ (from Manitoba) he invited the band to join Mondo Generator on tour across North America that following summer. A fellow kindred spirit and stoic campaigner of high-octane rock ’n’ roll, after one performance in Los Angeles with the former Kyuss/Queens of the Stone Age bass player, the band were approached backstage by another cult luminary and equally enamoured Rescue Rangers-supporter-in-waiting, Page Hamilton. At Hamilton’s request, the band completed an extensive tour supporting his legendary NYC noisemakers Helmet across France and entered the studio upon returning to record new album, Join Hate. Released in 2017 on the band’s own F200 Records (and produced by Hamilton), the band’s third release was an out-and-out treat for fans of heavy rock and electrifying songwriting. Ballsy, voluminous and stacked with promise, it was an ear opener and statement on just how far they’d progressed since day one.

Aufbau Principle + Gift Horse

aufbau (1 of 1).jpg

Think of psychedelia without the colors of flower power, think of post-punk with only nuances of melancholy, think of art noise without extremism, think of chaos, anguish, anger, shadows wrapped at strident and strained doses of noise.
Formed in late 2017, Aufbau Principle create caustic and doomed post-punk. Taking influence from the early 80’s dark Manchester sound as well as gothic cinema Aufbau Principle create music from the shards of broken relationships, doomed cityscapes and existential nightmares.

Support From Gift Horse:

Gift Horse are a Glasgow duo combining the breathy chanson-pop vocals of French-born guitarist Audrey Bizouerne with the darkly comic Scottish storytelling of drummer David Maxwell.

Formed in 2017, Gift Horse move fluently between kitchen-sink lyrics that navigate the humdrum and the sublime, flirtations with surf and garage-rock, 4AD indie in the Breeders/Throwing Muses mould, and juxtaposed girl-boy vocals that recall the quiet intensity of Isobel Campbell and Mark Lanegan.

Neon Seas are a band from Glasgow. Formed at the beginning of 2018, playing an optimistic blend of guitar-driven synthpop!

They have played shows with notable acts such as Night Flowers, NALA, Carla J. Easton, Melissa Kelly, Dogtooth and more!

Summer of 2018 saw the group win Rebel Yell bourbon's battle of the bands, and secure a slot at Music Moments Festival in Glasgow.

They rounded off the year with a performance at the hallowed Barrowland Ballroom, as part of 'Music Matters, Happiness Matters, You Matter'.

The group released their debut single 'SALT' in January 2019. Now they are gearing up to take on the world with their blend of synthpop and shoegazey bangers

Joaquín García (MEX) + Between Brothers

Joaquin Press 1 Jose Luis Isoard.JPG

Joaquin Garcia will tell you he writes pop music. To us, each verse has the feeling of a long-lost folk song, but the genre is not important. What matters is that it is brutally honest, it speaks in a truthful way, and within three minutes it has you hooked and wanting more.

In 2012, we recorded his first EP, Over The Last Few Years, as a solo acoustic show live in a garden with a quiet audience of close friends. A year later he was playing with a full band in front of 700 people, supporting Balmorhea at Lunario. He feels as comfortable in either situation because it is always his howling voice, intelligent lyrics and heartwarming delivery that connect the listener with the song.

From Glasgow’s folk music hive of activity, the Blas Collective emerged in 2009 as a jam with a few friends.  Since then it has become an eclectic evening of folk, jazz, country, blues and some pop covers too.  Hosted by singers Jenn Butterworth, Laura-Beth Salter and Hamish Napier, expect to hear songs from the heart-wrenchingly sad to the just plain ridiculous.  Joined by fiddler Adam Sutherland, percussionist Steve Forman and often a few other musical pals, the group jam from basic charts and create on-the-spot arrangements, guaranteeing that every night will be a different experience – which is just the way Bloc+ likes it!

For the last few years Bloc+ has been running one of Glasgow’s most popular and consistently high-quality open mic nights, thanks largely to  Jamie Sturt and friends, not to mention our incredibly gifted and facially pleasing clientele.

The gear is all ready to go so, if you’re fed up spending Sunday nights apprehensively contemplating the weekdays of early morning traffic, water-cooler small-talk, dole-office appointments or car theft, pop along and enjoy Bloc’s warm atmosphere and cold beverages. Or is it cold atmosphere and warm beverages…?

There will also now be a free beverage in exchange for a performance from you fine folk! If you want a free water that is also available too.

Get Staffed (club night)

*NEW CLUB NIGHT KLAXON*

A common post-work activity in the Soviet Union was partying till dawn in the discotheque. Even Stalin's dictatorship couldn't stop a little boogie. Although legally all dancing events HAD to have an official title explaining why are people dancing. So this is a night of dancing dedicated to keeping our bodies and minds healthy. Some banger RNB, lots of disco, obviously 80s, soul for your soul.

DAMMIT: The Deadnotes + Kid Dad + Everyday Pharaohs

47369515_2322887447935056_2288131049416294400_n.jpg

Dammit Presents:

the deadnotes

Awesome Emo/Punk/Indie from Germany. Having toured with the likes of The Front Bottoms, Beach Slang and Don Broco, The Deadnotes have honed in their sound and ready to unleash it on Bloc. I think they sound a bit like Joyce Manor and that's no bad thing!

https://thedeadnotesofficial.bandcamp.com/

KID DAD

German touring partners Kid Dad are a noisy, grungy, punky wall of sound. Having recently toured with Taking Back Sunday, And So I Watch You From Afar... and The Marmozets, the band are hungry to continue winning over audiences worldwide.

Everyday Pharaohs

Glasgow based 3-piece suit Everyday Pharaohs blend garage rock, emo and punk together extremely well. Elements of Modern Baseball, Joyce Manor and Weezer sprinkle their jams, and that is a mighty fine list of bands to be compared to!

SeRvo (FRA) + Lo Rays

Possibly the most coherent musical incarnation of the City of the Cents Clochers, Servo take their name from a title of Brian Jonestown Massacre but the comparison ends there. Psyche by vocation and not by fashion, the guys have quickly abandoned the soft tempos of the genre for syncopated rhythms, disco beats and garage patterns. Expect and on-stage sonic orgy.

Support from Lo Rays
Lo Rays is a Glasgow-based alt-rock band who combines heavy breakdowns, catchy melodies and unexpected rhythms. Dominated by dynamic vocals, their music ranges from soft and sweet to intimidatingly powerful.

Rolland Square + Quotes Of The Dead

Rolland Square are a 4 piece originals indie rock/pop band based in Glasgow writing fresh, upbeat tunes with Scottish vocals and catchy melodies. Formed in 2017 when Strathclyde University mates Grant and Daniel met up to jam having both recently moved back to Scotland, the band was lucky to pick up drummer Stephen on a night out and bassist Michael in the depths of social media to solidify their line up. In early 2018, the band recorded their 4 track debut EP "It Starts Today".

Support: Quotes Of The Dead
An alt-rock band firing out of Glasgow. With darkly satirical lyrics, and a conflict of styles from 70's Rock'n'Roll to 90's grunge.
