The gear is all ready to go so, if you’re fed up spending Sunday nights apprehensively contemplating the weekdays of early morning traffic, water-cooler small-talk, dole-office appointments or car theft, pop along and enjoy Bloc’s warm atmosphere and cold beverages. Adrena Adrena + Blood Of The Bull

29598025_10155309518112551_5635806658576935099_n.jpg

Adrena Adrena is a collaboration between visual artist Daisy Dickinson and drummer E-Da Kazuhisa (Boredoms/WEA Japan, Reprise/Warner Brothers) and currently British electronic/post-rock band Seefeel (Rephlex, Warp Records).

The duo cut a raw blend of drums, noise and organic visual work, featuring in their performances an 8-foot white sphere that hangs above Kazuhisa’s drum kit and which Dickinson maps videos on to.

Their debut was at the International Festival of Projections in early 2016 and have since performed at The Institute of Contemporary Arts London, End of The Road Festival, Supernormal Festival, Fort Process Festival, Splice Festival, Zorofest in Leipzig and more.

They have also performed with the likes of Acid Mothers Temple and members of Can, Faust, Wire and Bo Ningen.

THIS IS NOT TO BE MISSED.

Support from Blood of the Bull
Glasgow quartet steered by Hillary Lahoma Van Scoy. With vocals discernibly dreamy and jams that are expansive and eclectic.

They have played alongside acts such as; Verdena, The Lucid Dream, Gnoomes, Echoic, DTCV, Masonics, Holy Wave, DeWolff, The Warlocks, Dead Rabbits, Holy Nothing and The Cesarians.

Anna Pluto: is electronic music artist and sound designer from Riga, Latvia. Musically traveling from dreamy synth-pop vibes, all the way to ambient, abstract soundscapes. The Beths (NZ) + Fresh + Misc Meat

32218649_1073584619439899_4109991906488877056_o.jpg

Dammit Presents:

The Beths

I am so happy that The Beths got in touch for this show as they are easily one of the best and funnest bands I've listened to this year. Coming all the way from New Zealand, this lovely group play super sunny style, poppy, punky, summer vibes music. They are truly amazing and I am beyond excited to have them play. I'm already thinking this could be a gig of the year contender!

Fresh

Fresh released one of my favourite (if not thee favourite) album of last year. They are also on Specialist Subject records which we all know is almost too good a label and all bands on there are awesome. Fresh are one of those bands that on first listen, you hear the happy sounding guitars, catchy hooks and immense musicianship but upon deeper inspection find some of the best songwriting in the uk. It sometimes gets a bit sad but that's cool cause it doesn't sound like it and damn are they good. They played a blinder last time in Glasgow and I assume this will be the exact same!

https://www.facebook.com/freshpunks/

MISC. MEAT

I love food, Misc. Meat love food and I love Misc. Meat. So that's pretty alright. This lovely group have just released an absolute belter of a new EP and are ready to chew our faces, ears and kneecaps off with it. I can't wait to have them back!

They play a form of post-punk music akin to Liliput/Kleenex and Malaria adding their own reverbed idiosyncracies and eerie organ lines, chanting in indecipherable Italian, mock German and plain French. Taking turns on drums and blowing thru severed reeds, Badaboum will bring you as much joy as chaos and spook.

MISC. MEAT
Support from excellent and jagged Glaswegian indie/alt rock machine Misc. meat, fronted by the energetic, charismatic and often quite hilarious Amelia Bayler.

AND YES... the obvious question is "will there be a taxidermied small animal puppet show before the bands"?
Well of course there will.
No I'm not joking.
It's cool and weird. From London

Bloc+Jam Open Mic

27544804_10155154431072551_3753797286747138445_n.jpg

For the last few years Bloc+ has been running one of Glasgow’s most popular and consistently high-quality open mic nights, thanks largely to  Jamie Sturt and friends, not to mention our incredibly gifted and facially pleasing clientele.

The gear is all ready to go so, if you’re fed up spending Sunday nights apprehensively contemplating the weekdays of early morning traffic, water-cooler small-talk, dole-office appointments or car theft, pop along and enjoy Bloc’s warm atmosphere and cold beverages. Or is it cold atmosphere and warm beverages…?

There will also now be a free beverage in exchange for a performance from you fine folk! If you want a free water that is also available too.

Stretched: Eye Blossom + Ewan and Friends

For this special edition of Stretched we present THE SERIOUS...

Eye Blossom

"Eye Blossom is a project which explores the sound-waves that can bring us into a transe-like state… Floating us over green pastures like flying lotus yogic monks... It is inspired by the illusive juxta of the natural world and the of the urban environment. Or is this all but a dream..?
Eye Blossom is the brain child of saxophonist and composer Martin Fell.

Personnel

Philip Cardwell - Trumpet
Martin Fell– Alto Sax
James Steele – Tenor Sax
Fergus McCreadie – Keys
Stephen Henderson – Drums
Conor Murray - Bass

Guest MC/vocals - Ant Thomaz of Dope Sick Fly."

And THE LESS SERIOUS...

EWAN AND FRIENDS

"The result of a self prescribed homework assignment to learn how to write tunes, organise a band and play a gig so that an insecure drummer could feel like a real boy. Music is infinitely enhanced by Joshua Elcock on trumpet, James Lindsay on bass and Kyle Irwin on guitar.
This is what happens when you get told to play too much disco.
But I've at least avoided the drummer writes tunes in odd time trope.
Mostly..."

Gender Roles + Pillow Talk

Bombastic Brighton trio Gender Roles hit Bloc hard with their scuzz-fuelled, punk, emo GARGANTUAN sounds.

Brighton based 3 piece Gender Roles are the hazy soundtrack of a pool party with your best mates. Recently signed to Big Scary Monsters and formed a little under 2 years ago, the band released their first EP ‘Planet X-Ray’ in January 2017, seeing them tour the UK and US in support.

2018 has already seen the band receive amazing support from Radio 1’s Huw Stephens and Daniel P Carter for new singles ‘Plastic’ and ‘About Her’ as well as heading out on a full UK tour with Jamie Lenman. A UK April headline tour will coincide with the release of the bands second EP – ‘Lazer Rush’ on April 13th.

From Glasgow’s folk music hive of activity, the Blas Collective emerged in 2009 as a jam with a few friends.  Since then it has become an eclectic evening of folk, jazz, country, blues and some pop covers too.  Hosted by singers Jenn Butterworth, Laura-Beth Salter and Hamish Napier, expect to hear songs from the heart-wrenchingly sad to the just plain ridiculous.  Joined by fiddler Adam Sutherland, percussionist Steve Forman and often a few other musical pals, the group jam from basic charts and create on-the-spot arrangements, guaranteeing that every night will be a different experience – which is just the way Bloc+ likes it!

Podcart & GoldMold Present: Fontaines D.C. + SHREDDS

28167205_10155190573967551_9219267656952063540_n.jpg

"Snarling, Swaggering Post Punk" - Stereogum
"I've played this about 15 Times since Yesterday. It's a little bit like hearing Idles for the first time. I really think there's something here" - Steve Lamacq (BBC6)

"Limited third 7" Single from Dublin’s Fontaines who have now added DC to the end of their name. Chequeless Reckless is one half of a double A-Side single and is a mesmerising cut that's built on a krautrock rock esque groove but played by punks. The vocals are spoken in a distinctive Irish drawl and sits in between Mark E Smith and Justin from the Vaccines. The other half of the single is Boys in the Better Land which is another golden nugget that has the sound of The Modern Lovers if they'd grown up in Dublin.

FONTAINES D.C will release their third single on Fri Feb 23rd. The Double A Side featuring tracks "Chequeless Reckless/ Boys In The Better Land" will be available on all Digital Platforms and as always on very Limited Edition 7" Vinyl.

This will be the band's first ever Scottish show!

Support comes from Glasgow alt-impresarios Shredd

Slack #4: Dancehall + Gift Horse + Home Economics

27972387_10155181494877551_2997445933794772661_n.jpg

There's been a big fucking gaping hole when it comes to alt-punk.

Dancehall are here to save the day. We couldn't be more pleased to be hosting their first Glasgow gig.

A trio of believers in distortion, energy and melody who meld their serrated post-punk with droning shoegaze elements. Meeting via guitarist Craig's fanboy obsessions with Tim (vocals) previous band, Kill Kenada, the band have been rapidly writing, recording and playing together for 2 years.

They have earnt praise from Wonderland, Clash Music, Dork Magazine and radio airplay from indie rock tastemakers BBC 6 Music's Steve Lamacq and John Kennedy at Radio X, among others.

The band's DIY ethics and hunger to release their music on their own label Vibe/Anti-Vibe, has gained them attention from Rough Trade who invited to play Rough Trade's 40th Anniversary All-Dayer.

In 2018 Dancehall will be self-releasing another single in March with their debut album set for release in late May.

Support from Gift Horse
Two-piece billed as a duo of big drums and dirty guitar with a sprinkle of psych glitter.

Century Thirteen + Flat Six + Trampled Daisy

DSC00607.1 (2).jpg

Century Thirteen : Mixing alternative rock with the upbeat melodies and driving energy of pop punk and more.

Flat Six are a four piece alternative rock band from Perth Scotland. Spawned in a shared student flat during early 2014 their music is about growing up, the frustrations of day to day life and trying to have a good time through it all. With fuzzy guitar hooks, grungy vocals but overall a warm sense of composure Flat Six sit somewhere in-between heavy rock and a lighter alternative side.
FFO The Queens of the Stone Age, Weezer and Biffy Clyr

Trampled Daisy Incorporate punk, ska, and blues elements, their songs find themselves in the sweet spot of being both engagingly original and joyfully accessible.
